Quena flute
Traditional flute of the Andes
Quena (Kena) is the traditional end-blown flute of the Andes. It has a major scale and a bright, rich sound. The embouchure of this flute is designed in such a way that if you apply a thin stream of air to it with your lips, the flute starts to sound, and the nature of the sound changes depending on how much air is supplied and depending of an air stream angle. This flute allows to enrich the sound and convey the mood in the character of each note. Such a flute will allow you to fully realize your abilities and talents in music and enjoy the unity of soul with the sound. There are several varieties of this flute - a large Kena with a low sound is called Mama-Quena, a slightly smaller one with a higher sound - Quenacho (Kenacho), "standard", medium sizes - Quena, and a small Quena with a high sound - Kenilla.
