Bansuri is the legendary Indian bamboo side blown flute with unique sound timbre. You can hear its sound in most of Indian folk music. Bansuri is a transverse flute, its embouchure is located on the end of the flute allowing to extract a very different sounds depending on the air stream blown into the embouchure. The melody of Bansuri cannot be confused with any other due to its "folk" sound timbre.
Number of playing holes: 6 (4 for pentatonic).
Interval: 1 to 2 octaves.
Material: bamboo.
